Friends,

Church attendance is challenging in a world ripe with long work days, difficulties meeting the needs of our children, and the anxiety of mounting debt.  By the time Sunday comes along if you’re not restoring your family, your finances, you’re likely restoring your lack of rest. The thought of going to Church can become overwhelming. Unintentionally making a steady Church life low on our list of priorities.

By the fact that you’re visiting our site it is safe to guess despite all these challenges your relationship with God has remained important to you and your family. Perhaps you likely feel something is missing, a deep longing for more. May be it's the realiztation that although your responsibilities are aplenty, they cannot restore you. That’s the Holy Spirit nudging you to remember it is Christ that restores you.

Allow Christ and His Church to comeback into the center of your life. Allow His love to mend the wounds in your heart while He rejuvenates the vitality in your spirit. If meeting crazy demands, endless responsibilities and the unpredictability of life feels like a constant battle, why go into battle alone?  Why go into combat exhausted? Church is not just some place you ought to be, when done well, “Church is a field hospital after battle” (Pope Francis).

At St. Michael's Charismatic Catholic Church you will find a community of people who see Church not as an obligation that gets in the way of other responsibilities; rather we see Church as a way to recharge, reconnect, and reignite ourselves for the challenges of the week ahead. Church, the Body of Christ, gives us the endurance we need to formidably engage in this thing we call life. And while you’re being renewed, let St. Michael’s be the place were you develop your talent at being a field medic for others.

God's Peace be with you

Fr. Che Obas

Pastor's Welcome

St Michaels Charismatic Catholic Church
The Legacy of Fr. Robert Shumann

On January 9, 2016 our beloved Pastor, friend, confidant, and mentor passed away after a valiant fight with cancer. Fr. Robert Shuman  (aka Fr. Bob or “Pop-pop” to his family) pastored St. Michaels since the 1980s when it was then called St. Francis of Assisi Charismatic Catholic Church. Fr. Bob began St. Michaels in the basement of his home. As the community grew he sought larger accommodations which lead to our current collaboration with Grace Presbyterian Church. Fr. Bob was the sole driving force in the growth of St. Michael's. He spent countless hours and miles performing weddings, baptisms, and laying to rest friends and family. His accomplishments through fundraising led to the purchase of the steeple now placed ontop Grace Presbyterian Church, the Air Conditioning System, and several major restorative repairs. Some of those repairs he did himself.

What people will remember most of all is Fr. Bob’s gentle spirit. His very presence could soothe your concerns even before he spoke a word to you. He infused the joy of the Holy Spirit in every mass with his “Little Stories”. Fr. Bob lead this church with the unsolicited respect and admiration of his parish. Robert Shumann was a carpenter, an evangelist, a shepherd, a friend, & family. His life beautifully mirrored the life of Jesus Christ the very Person who called him into service all those years ago.

Executive Board

Most Rev. Archbishop Raymond Contois – President

  • Bishop Raymond has been the head of our diocese since the early 90s. Bishop Raymond began his longtime stewardship of St. Michaels when Fr. Bob offered his obedience to Bishop Raymond. Though Bishop Raymond was clearly Fr. Bob’s superior you would never know it by the way they interacted. For Bishop Rayomnd Fr. Bob was not just one of many priests under his authority, Fr. Bob was one of his best friends. Bishop Raymond continues to provide guidance to St. Michaels on matters of faith, morals, and church teachings

Denise Cafaro – Treasurer

  • Denise has been a parishioner of St. Michael’s for over 15yrs. She ran uncontested and was voted in for the second term in a row as treasurer in last October’s elections.  Denise’s thoroughness and professionalism in her career has carried over as a talent St. Michaels benefits from significantly. Denise’s dedication to the parish is unquestionable and we thank God for her being so vested in the growth of the St. Michael's community.

Linda Spina – Secretary

  • Linda has been a parishioner for just under a year. In such a short time she has immersed herself and her family fully into the parish. She volunteered to be a Lector, to be part of the choir and we were blessed when Linda ran to be Secretary of the Parish. Linda and her family are an amazing new addition to the St. Michael's family

Joseph Cafaro - Trustee

  • Joseph has been a parishioner of St. Michael’s for over 15yrs. He was one of the original three Acolytes and Alter Servers of Fr. Bob. As an Acolyte Joseph was fully capable of facilitatiing a thorough Eucharistic service in the absence of Fr. Bob. He continues to serve that function today along with his duties as a Trustee. Joe’s passion for service continues to be an irreplaceable asset to the parish.

Roger Purick – Trustee

  • Roger has been a parishioner of St. Michael's for over 5years. In addition to his responsibilities as Trustee Roger also dedicates his time and effort to the music ministry of St. Michaels. As one of the premier Tenor/Bass of a large choir Roger shares his talent and joy of singing with the St. Michaels community. His willingness to go above and beyond his duties cannot be understated. Roger’s love for singing is as large as his love for this parish.

Judy Musorofiti - Trustee

  • After several years of service to St. Michael's two years ago Judy stepped down as a trustee. As the needs of the parish began to mount, Judy once again answered the Lord's call to serve the Church. Judy has been a member of St. Michael's for over 10years. She is a pillar of this church and her contributions are too numerous to name.
